Ancient History & Mythology of Baba Basukinath Dham Temple.

Baba Basukinath Temple

Baba Basukinath Dham Temple the sacred place exactly called Basukinath is situated in Dumka district of Jharkhand state here Lord Shiva or Mahadev is worshiped and popularly known as Basukinath since ancient era.

Devotees believe that unless the darshan or worship of Baba Basukinath is accomplished, the darshan or worship of Baba Baidyanath at Deoghar will be considered incomplete. So let's have some interesting faith of devotees which is about the court of Baba Basukinath where criminal cases are heard normally in the form of prayer or worship and it is very common belief among devotees that they come out of the fussy situation if they are innocent and trapped in false allegations.

Ancient history and mythology of Baba Basukinath Dham Temple:

History says that the Baba Basukinath Dham temple was built in end of the 16th century, but among Sanatan people or devotees of Baba Basukinath it is believed that temple is as old as ved and purana's they generally connect this temple with Samudra Manthan an auspicious event for betterment of mankind mentioned in Vedas where the gaint snake named Basuki was used to churn the mountain situated in ocean where God and asur or demon participated together, before this auspicious event the gaint snake Basuki worshiped lord Shiva and prayed for the success  of samudra manthan event and his participation for the betterment of mankind and ultimately the mother nature.

And after successful execution of Samudra Manthan this temple lord or nath became famous on the name of gaint snake Basuki and popularly known as Basukinath as per Hindu mythology.

Apart from this, there is also a hardcore local people belief about the temple. It is said that this place was once deep forest area called Daruk Van. After some time humans settled nearby the deep green  daruk forest who depended on the Daruk forest for their needs. These local nearby  people used to come to the forest area in search of Kandamool or natural plant based foodstuff. In a continuation, once a person named Basuki also came to the forest in search of food. He started digging the ground to get the food stuff. Then suddenly blood started flowing from the digging point. Tensed and frustrated Basuki started leaving from there, then a voice came and Basuki was ordered to start worshiping Lord Shiva on the blood flowing or digging point .Basuki started worshiping the Shivling on the digging spot, the symbol of Lord Shiva that appeared from the ground, since then Lord Shiva located here was called Basukinath.

Basukinath Temple is one of the few ancient temples of Jharkhand. There is a pond located near the temple which is also known as Van Ganga or Sivaganga. Its water is considered very sacred for the devotees. Apart from the main temple, other Hindu deities have also been established within the temple campus.

Basukinath temple is an important pilgrimage after Baba Baidyanath Dham Jyotirlinga Darshan:

Bol bum or Shiva devotees coming accross the country first reach Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar and offer Gangajal to Lord Shiva. However, most of the devotees reach Basukinath after Baba Baidyanath Jyotirling Darshan. It is also believed that the journey of Baba Baidyanath will be considered incomplete until Basukinath is visited. Devotees reach Basukinath carrying Gangajal and milk with them and perform Abhishek to Lord Shiva.

It's common belief among Sanatan people that where Lord Shiva sitting in Baba Baidyanath hears civil cases of innocent devotees in the form of prayer. Lord shiva sitting in Basukinath, around 45 km away from Baidyanath Dham, listens to the criminal complaints of the innocent devotees in the form of prayer and settles them. Nagesh is the form of Lord Shiva in Basukinath. This is the reason that the devotees who offer milk to Lord Shiva here are blessed by Lord Shiva in abundance but devotees who fails to offer Sacred water or milk by just completing darshan Puja will be equally blessed by lord Shiva in case of Divyang, old age or devotees facing situation based inability to follow complete way of worship.

Still you can manage this shortcomings by requesting your fellow pilgrims as per our tradition and culture we always love to share for good faith or second option you can contact your respective tirth purohit or pandaaji or priest for extended help.

Without any complex rituals lord Shiva or Bholenath bless devotees with open and innocent heart.
